For the past 25 years, Mr. Mueller has developed, constructed and operated privately owned power projects in the US, Australia and in Europe at two prior companies he founded. Mr. Mueller brings deep and established relationships as well as an intimate knowledge of the contracting culture with the electric and heat utility markets in the US and EU. Mr. Mueller was previously the Founder and President of DG Energy Solutions LLC, an independent power production business with industrial gas cogeneration plants, biomass electricity facilities and district heating/cooling systems throughout the US which he subsequently sold. Mr. Mueller’s past power-related roles included:
- Energy Visions LLC: Founder and President
EV is a private holding company with shareholdings in a number of energy-related businesses. Mr. Mueller has invested capital into selected clean-tech companies and operating power generation plants in the US, Europe and Australia.
- International WoodFuels LLC: Founder and Past President
WoodFuels was founded in 2008 to develop, own and operate densified biomass fuel manufacturing facilities designed to provide carbon emissions reduction solutions to coal-fired generation plants.
- DG Energy LLC: Founder and Past President
DG Energy was formed in 2000 to acquire and expand industrial gas combine heat and power (CHP) plants, district energy facilities and biomass generation projects throughout the US. By the end of 2004, DG owned and operated twelve facilities with 180MW of generation and thermal capacity in nine states, including five biomass power stations. DG was sold at a significant profit to an international energy company in mid-2006 and continues in business today with more than 120 full-time employees and a strong financial record of performance.
- Wilton InterPower LLC and Polish Energy Partners:
Wilton was established in 1995 to develop small-scale (10-50MW) CHP plants for industrial and public utility energy requirements outside the US.
- San Diego Power & Cooling:
In 1993, Mr. Mueller acquired San Diego Power & Cooling, a citywide district cooling plant which was integrated to a 2.5MW gas-fired CHP facility. The system located in downtown in San Diego, served 12 customers and 3.5 million sq ft of downtown properties at the time of purchase. By 1997, the business was significantly expanded and today serves 25 customers with more than 5.5 million sqft of hotels, offices and shopping centers. The business was sold in 1997 to a large American utility and continues to be a critical service provider of low-cost, low-emissions impact air conditioning services to a rapidly growing downtown commercial community.
- Turner Power Group, Inc:
In 1986, Mr. Mueller returned to New York City to rejoin his partner in a cogeneration development company jointly owned with Turner Construction Company, a large, New York based, national constructor. During the next several years, TPG became a highly successful developer of inside-the-fence cogeneration facilities ranging from 2.5MW to 110MW. The projects were developed throughout the US, serving hospitals, commercial facilities and industrial manufacturing plants. In 1990, Turner Construction sold the business back to the founders and over the next two years the operating assets were sold.
- Indian Pacific Solar Electric P/L (Sydney, Australia):
Mr. Mueller served as an advisor to the Energy Minister of the State of New South Wales. In 1982, IPS was formed with ARCO Solar to design and deploy integrated solar electric pumping, power and communications systems.
Mr. Mueller received a BA in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
